Priceless Face - 17 January 2011
I was struck by the awards ceremony for the film Social Network. The acting was first class as you would expect. True strories normally relate to history but this is the almost fantastical development of an online phenomenon over the last few years.
If you have not already, I am sure you will see the film. What derived out of Harvard as a consequence of one student, Mark Zuckerburg wanting a comprehensive list of all students in the School has developed into a global business worth as much as $50 billion dollars. This is more than Tesco's or many banks. Once in while, through a combination of inspiration, luck, determination and lots of sleepless nights, a star is born. History is littered with stars........Eddison, Daimler, Stephenson, Gates and many many more.
We all have good ideas once in a while but these stars are truely inspirational. You may not like their way of doing business but Mark Zuckerburg has gone from an idea one drunken late night to something which now has 300 million unique visitors to his website every day. There are 10 million comments made on Facebook every 20 minutes - that's 500,000 comments every minute.
Hats off and good luck. Where will the next 26 year old star surface?
